INDONESIAN... MOUNTAIN API DUKONO

Mount Dukono (1185 asl) located in the northern part of Halmahera island is one of a series of active volcanoes in North Maluku.In Indonesia, of the many active volcanoes, along with a mountain Dukono Lokon in North Sulawesi are the two most frequent alert status (level 2). Each year since 1933, recorded Dukono always bererupsi.

How is transportation to get there?
Climbing to the peak is usually done through a village where there are Mamuya volcano observation post which gives information about the current status Dukono. Climbing can be alleviated by using a motorcycle to the farthest limits of plantation residents. After that, the journey will be continued for 2 hours by foot through jungles and across a ravine to get out in the area of former lava flows that surround the crater Dukono. Here there is a location that is often used as a camping area by those who want to spend the night in the vicinity of the peak. Crater Dukono only 1 hour away from here. Alternative paths that can be achieved is through the village in the district office for North Tobelo.
